Scanning QR Codes & Barcodes

TextClipper isn't just for text. It identifies and decodes QR codes and standard barcodes instantly.

How to Scan

  1. Activate TextClipper (⌘⇧8) as usual.
  2. Draw a box around the QR code or barcode on your screen.
  3. TextClipper will detect the code and automatically copy its contents (URL, serial number, etc.) to your clipboard.

Supported Formats

We support a wide range of formats natively via macOS Vision frameworks:

  • QR Codes: Standard URLs, WiFi credentials, contact cards.
  • Barcodes: UPC-E, Code 39, Code 128, EAN-8/13, PDF417, and Aztec.
Tip: If the QR code is small or blurry, try increasing the size of the QR code on your screen slightly (Cmd+) before capturing.
