This Privacy Policy explains how TextClipper, the macOS Additive Clipboard and OCR toolkit, treats information collected through our app and website.

What we collect

TextClipper is designed to run locally on your Mac. We only collect the minimum data needed to operate our website, deliver downloads, and respond to support requests.

  • Clipboard captures: Captured text, screenshots, and translation requests stay on your device. Clips are never sent to our servers unless you explicitly connect a cloud model with your own API key.
  • App preferences: Settings such as keyboard shortcuts, Additive Clipboard state, and theme are stored locally using macOS preferences.
  • Website analytics: We review aggregate, non-identifying metrics (page views, referrers, device type) to understand how the TextClipper.com site is being used. No session is linked to a named individual.
  • Support correspondence: Emails or files you send to support@textclipper.app are used only to help resolve your request.

How we use information

  • Operate and improve the TextClipper apps and website, including new features such as the Additive Clipboard workflow.
  • Provide customer support, troubleshoot issues, and answer feature requests.
  • Communicate updates, release notes, or critical security notices when you opt in.
  • Monitor anonymous usage patterns to prioritize performance and accessibility improvements.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not run advertising trackers or behavioral profiling.

Local processing & Additive Clipboard

OCR, translations, QR decoding, and the Additive Clipboard operate on-device. When you enable Additive Clipboard, new captures append to the clipboard history stored in your local macOS pasteboard. This history is only retained for as long as macOS keeps clipboard entries available; TextClipper does not transmit this information.

You can clear the clipboard at any time using macOS utilities or by restarting TextClipper. Capture History, when enabled, encrypts clips locally before syncing over iCloud using your Apple account.

Optional cloud integrations

Certain advanced OCR paths let you use external AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, or others). These services are optional and require you to supply your own API key. Requests are sent directly from your device to the provider you select. TextClipper never proxies or stores your API keys.

Please review the privacy policies of any third-party provider you authorize. Their terms govern how your data is handled once it leaves your device.

Storage, retention, and deletion

  • App data: Stored in your macOS user Library. Uninstalling the app or deleting its preference files removes this data.
  • Website analytics: Aggregate metrics are retained for up to 12 months for trend analysis.
  • Support records: We keep conversation history for as long as needed to assist you, then archive or delete it within 18 months.

To request deletion of support correspondence or confirm that no cloud data exists for your account, reach out to support@textclipper.app .

Sharing & disclosure

We share information only when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to defend TextClipper against legal claims. Infrastructure providers that deliver our website (such as hosting, email, or analytics vendors) may process limited metadata on our behalf under strictly controlled agreements.

Your rights & choices

  • Opt out of non-essential emails via the unsubscribe link in the footer of each message.
  • Disable analytics on the web by using a browser with tracker blocking or by adjusting your cookie preferences.
  • Request a copy or deletion of any personal information we hold by emailing support@textclipper.app .

International users

TextClipper is based in the United States and processes website analytics in that region. If you access our services from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other regions with data collection laws, you consent to processing in the United States. We follow GDPR and other applicable frameworks by limiting data collection, enabling deletion requests, and encrypting data in transit.

Updates to this policy

When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, notify you inside the app or by email.
